  • CD Projekt Red announces Fully Destructible Environments for Cyberpunk 2077

Just in case you haven't watched the gameplay reveal, you can watch it below:

Now that you have watched it, you surely know that Cyberpunk 2077 features extremely impressive environments. Kudos to the developers! This is all great for gamers, but it is a double-edged sword to be honest. It is very much possible that it will require  high specs to function. Having said that, the most detailed games are generally the least interactive, but CD Projekt Red is set to change this trend with Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Project Red level designer Miles Tost assured us that Cyberpunk 2077 will be one of the most interactive games of all time.

“So we’re trying to push the interactivity of the world by adding in details from a physical side. The game will be highly physical, will have a lot of destruction. You can see that in the demo when you’re in the scavengers area and you shoot at the pillars and they start crumbling. This all is to add weight to the world. To really give life to our vision of what is very much a dark version of the future.”

Tost went an to say that the main goal is to make Cyberpunk 2077's environment entirely destructible, although to make it happen, you might need equally impressive hardware.

“Every platform only has so much performance. If you think about it, as a developer, how do you want to root this performance? Do you want to have more NPCs? Do you want to fill a large city space? Or do you want the environments to be more destructible? Do you want the lighting to be better, or do you want to have more complex AI.”

It'll be too bad if these unique features are limited to high-end PCs. But this is what we expect to happen. Although the developers insist on doing it with current-gen hardware, there might have to be some compromises to make it happen.
The game is to be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. No release date has been announced yet.
